Desktop scene manager for macOS

Save your window scenes. Return to work in one click.

SnapScene turns the windows on your current desktop into named scenes. Save writing, coding, research, and design layouts with nested splits, then restore the right scene instead of dragging windows back by hand.

Make desktop layouts recoverable

Each scene stores its window members, relative layout, and split ratios. Keep separate states for writing, development, meetings, and research, then return to them quickly.

  • Save the current window set
  • Support horizontal and vertical nested splits
  • Restore by ratios instead of fragile absolute pixels

Switch from a visual left-edge panel

SnapScene uses a macOS Dock-inspired preview panel on the left edge. You choose from layout thumbnails rather than a hard-to-scan text list.

  • Scene tiles show the layout at a glance
  • Click a tile to restore that scene
  • Use shortcuts for your most common scenes

Clear local permission boundaries

The current version identifies windows on the current Desktop through the SnapScene Window Helper shortcut installed in the Shortcuts app, and moves or resizes them when you restore a scene. Scene data is stored locally by default.

  • Works with the Shortcuts app to arrange windows
  • No window-pixel or audio capture
  • Window metadata is stored locally by default
