Privacy Policy

This policy explains how PasteNext handles information when you use the macOS app, website, and support pages.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the PasteNext macOS app, PasteNext website pages, and PasteNext-related support requests. In this policy, "PasteNext," "we," "us," and "our" refer to the PasteNext product and its operator.

PasteNext is a local-first clipboard utility. We do not sell personal information, do not use clipboard content to build advertising profiles, do not operate our own analytics or advertising SDK in the app, and do not require you to upload clipboard history to PasteNext servers for the core features to work.

2. Information PasteNext may process

  • Clipboard content: text, links, code, images, rich text, file references, or folder references, depending on what you copy.
  • Clipboard context: copied time, source app, content type, content size, PinBoard associations, tags, local OCR text extracted from images, search indexes, and locally derived data needed for smart recommendations.
  • Preferences: hotkeys, panel position, language, ignored apps, privacy filters, storage limits, PinBoard settings, and interface preferences.
  • Purchase status: if you buy, subscribe to, or restore Pro features through the App Store, PasteNext reads transaction, subscription, and entitlement status from Apple to unlock features.
  • Support information: if you contact us through a support channel, we process the issue description, screenshots, attachments, device details, system version, and diagnostics you choose to provide.
  • Website preference: the PasteNext website may store your selected language in your browser's local storage so pages can reopen in the same language. We do not use this for advertising tracking.

3. Local-first storage and processing

PasteNext is designed to store, index, search, and manage clipboard history on your Mac first. Clipboard databases, PinBoards, tags, settings, and local search data are generally stored on your device.

Local app data may be stored in formats such as SQLite databases, preference files, caches, local indexes, OCR/search metadata, and user-selected ZIP export files. PasteNext's local storage is not intended to be a password manager or encrypted vault, so you should protect your Mac account, FileVault, backups, and exported ZIP files appropriately.

Unless you intentionally export, share, paste, send information to support, or sync data through a third-party service you choose, PasteNext does not require clipboard history uploads. You should avoid sending passwords, keys, tokens, private databases, or unnecessary sensitive clipboard content through support channels.

4. How we use information

  • To provide clipboard history, search, image-text recognition, previews, PinBoards, smart recommendations, and paste-back into the active app.
  • To save your preferences, privacy rules, ignored app list, and data retention choices.
  • To verify App Store purchases, subscriptions, restored purchases, and Pro entitlement status.
  • To respond to support requests, troubleshoot issues, and improve stability and safety.
  • To maintain the website, remember language preference, and understand ordinary server errors or abuse patterns from hosting logs.

5. Permission usage

  • Clipboard access is used to read copied content, save history, generate previews, and provide search.
  • Accessibility permission is used to detect the active foreground app and paste the clipboard item you choose back into that app.
  • File access is used only when you copy, preview, import, export, or paste related file and folder references.
  • Network access may be used to open websites, App Store purchase flows, subscription management, support pages, or, when allowed by you, web/link preview resources.
  • Full Disk Access is not required for PasteNext's normal clipboard history features.

6. Sharing and third parties

We do not sell personal information and do not share clipboard content with advertising networks. The following situations may involve third parties or external processing:

  • Apple handles App Store downloads, purchases, subscriptions, refunds, taxes, and transaction records.
  • Apple may provide App Store reports, crash diagnostics, or purchase status information according to your Apple settings and Apple's policies.
  • Information you intentionally send to support is used to respond and troubleshoot. If you include screenshots, logs, archives, or databases, they may contain clipboard content or other personal information.
  • ZIP exports, system sharing, cloud drives, or third-party sync services you choose are handled by the services you select.
  • If required for legal, regulatory, or safety reasons, we may process or disclose relevant information to the extent necessary.

7. Website, support, and access logs

The PasteNext website is static and does not include our own advertising profile scripts or cookies. It may use browser local storage only to remember the language you choose. Your browser, internet provider, static hosting provider, or security service may create ordinary access logs such as IP address, time, page path, browser type, and error logs.

If you contact us through support channels, provide only the information needed to troubleshoot the issue. Do not send passwords, keys, tokens, full databases, or unnecessary sensitive clipboard content.

8. Deletion, retention, and your controls

  • You can delete clipboard records, erase history, adjust storage limits, import/export data, or ignore specific apps in PasteNext.
  • Sensitive-content filtering and ignored apps can reduce what PasteNext saves, but you remain responsible for checking whether a copied item should be stored.
  • Uninstalling the app or deleting its local data removes PasteNext history and settings stored on that Mac.
  • Support requests are retained for a reasonable period needed to handle requests, maintain records, and improve the product.
  • If the laws in your region grant rights to access, correct, delete, export, or object to processing, you may submit a request through the PasteNext Support page.

9. Security

PasteNext uses macOS app sandboxing, permission controls, local file system protections, and Apple transaction APIs where applicable. No software can guarantee absolute security. Because clipboard content can be sensitive, you should use ignored apps, sensitive-content filtering, history deletion, strong device security, FileVault, and export-file protection thoughtfully.

10. International use

PasteNext is operated from the location of its product operator and is made available online. Website hosting, Apple services, email providers, or support tools may process limited support or access-log information in locations outside your country. Clipboard history stored locally on your Mac is not transferred to us simply because you use the app.

11. Children

PasteNext is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

12. Changes

If features or data handling practices materially change, we will update this page and revise the last updated date. Continued use after an update means the revised policy applies from its effective date.
